For whom
Beginners and advanced dancers.
Kuchipudi
It is said that “the truest expression of a people is in its dance and in its music”. Indeed, Kuchipudi – one of the 7 main Classical Dance Forms of India – is instantly recognizable as an embodiment of the culture and people of Andhra Pradesh. Existing around the 14th century, the style flourished as dramatic form for several hundred years. Innovations have resulted in a rich solo repertoire and thematic group presentations. Kuchipudi is reckoned as a style that is at once dynamic, vibrant, graceful and extremely appealing in nature.
Teachers
One of the purest exponents of the Kuchipudi dance form is Srividya Mutnuri. She has travelled in India for solo and group presentations and has participated in International dance festivals such as Festival of India (Russia), Paris Quartier D’ete (France), TANA celebrations of Texas (USA) and has undertaken tours to Singapore and USA. She has trained students and has conducted Lecture Demonstrations at educational institutions in India and abroad for increasing awareness and appreciation for Kuchipudi dance. She shares her life-long passion for dance with her husband, Yagna Mutnuri who is himself an accomplished dancer. As recent residents of the Netherlands, it is their profound desire to help spread this message across the country and help train a new generation of dancers. Srividya and Yagna bring a great deal of experience and knowledge based on performing and teaching at the highest level.
This 3 hour workshop provides an excellent opportunity to learn from them that should not be missed! We invite you to come and experience the Magic of Kuchipudi at the LAKtheater.
