Modern Dance
Level I:
You don’t need any previous dance experience to attend this course.
Contents:
The beginners course will develop the basic concepts of Modern Dance. Floor exercises will open most of the sessions. We’ll explore relationships between mind and body, to awake an awareness of the body in motion. The classes will continue with standing exercises challenging the supports; and it ends with the learning of a phrase involving interpretation’s skills. Playing with natural weight effects we will explore notions as the inner architecture (volumes head, torso, pelvis), supports variation (movement of the gravity center), the conscious of space, and musicality. Enjoying the “let it go”, the fun of dance and its energy.
Level II:
For people who have at least two years of dance experience.
Contents:
The aim of this class is to accompany the participants to the experience of Modern dance. Following the same principle as the course Modern dance I, this course will deepen the technical abilities of the participants by précising the body awareness (anatomical knowledge, movement understanding) and by letting grow the movement experiences. Floor exercises will open the classes, then in standing posture some exercise will challenge the balance. We will explore flows, qualities, dynamism and rhythm. Our inner architecture will get defined and précised, as well as the control of space and musicality.Short improvisations will punctuate the class and emphasize the learning of flows. We will enjoy the play of choreographies at the end of the lessons that will mix these skills. Composition processes will punctuate our sessions to generate a natural pleasure in our process of learning.
